Car Insurance Discounts That Could Save You Money

Everyone needs car insurance, and, unfortunately, everyone also has to pay for that car insurance. Obviously, you want to find the most affordable car insurance possible while still ensuring that you get the best coverage. One easy way to get the best of both worlds--adequate coverage and affordable pricing--is to take advantage of car insurance discounts. Most auto insurance services offer some discounts, but it's in your best interest to know about the many discounts available and to make sure you choose a provider that offers you all or at least most of the discounts to which you are entitled. Also keep in mind that sometimes you can get a specific discount just by inquiring about it; never be afraid to educate yourself on common discounts and then to speak up to get them!

Multiple Policy Discount

Do you have more than one driver and/or more than one vehicle in your family? If so, then you'll want to inquire about the multiple policy discount. Many insurance providers will hand over a hefty discount if you open one or more car insurance policies with them.

Also, companies that offer other types of insurance, in addition to car insurance, will often give you a discount if you hold two or more policies with them. So by having your home and car insurance through the same provider, for example, you could save big bucks.

Full Premium Discount

Another super easy way to save money on your car insurance is to pay your premium all at once. Most people can't afford to pay their premium all in one go, so they spread it out, in the form of payments, throughout the life of the policy.

Paying up front makes things easier on everyone, however, so when you choose to plop down the entire premium amount ahead of time, you'll typically be rewarded with a nice discount. So, start saving up to pay that premium up front; it'll be worth it in the long run!

Low Mileage Discount

Some people drive more than others, but if you're one of the few who doesn't drive as much as the average person, you could be entitled to a hefty insurance discount. Insurance providers determine what they consider to be a "low" mileage and also whether or not they will offer this discount.

If you're someone who takes the bus to work or chooses to walk more than drive, though, definitely ask about this discount and make sure you find a provider who will allow you to take advantage of it.

Remember, how much you save is really up to you. You might have to do some extra searching and comparison shopping, but it's all worth it if you can end up paying a lot less in insurance each year.
